Brake Drum Question

there is a slot in the back, take two screwdrivers one small one big. use the small one to push the self adjuster arm away from the wheel, at the same time use the big screw driver and turn the wheel(use a flashlight to see if you are going the right way)as far as it will go. you should be able to get them off then
BTW you may have to hit the drum with a hammer to get the drum started(coming off)
good luck!!!!!!!

Here's what worked like a charm on my 3500...

put the rear axle on 2 jackstands. loosely thread 2 lug nuts back on, but leave some room between the drum and the lug. start the engine, get it up to ~25mph, and stomp the brakes. Works like a charm.

This is assuming you have the type of drum that slips over the lugs, by the way.

On my Toyota, there were 2 threaded holes.. thread 2 bolts in evenly, and it pushed the drums right off.

Tap them with a big hammer a few times and they should come off.

Rich is that a Toy thing? I have never heard that before

which...the bolt holes, or the lugnut trick? the lugnut trick is on my Dana70/80 under the Dodge, the bolt holes was on my 2wd 'Yota, but is the same for all Toy drums.

Yes, Toyota hubs have threaded holes that lets you push the hub right off.

Got to love those yodas.

All that will work good...If the shoes have not cut a grove in the drum, making a lip on the inside.

I too used the BFH method - just tap the drums on either side until they're loose, and they should slide right off. Also, it's a stupid mistake, but a common one - make sure your parking brake is off. I've done it several times, and so have most of my friends. Just one of those things you overlook.

Axle is out of the truck so Rich's method is a no go! So here is what I had to do; I took an acytelene torch and I heated the f'n hell out of them (because apparently they were siezed), so about the time I got them nice and red I took a screwdriver and pryed the f'n hell out of them. Then......... they popped right off. I was nice and pissed to say the least. So if the drums are worped then so be it, because they were no good to me seized on my axle. If heating them hadn't worked I was going to cut the f'ers off with the torch and just get new ones. Oh, btw I HATE DRUM BRAKES!
