Brake Squeeks

Alright, everywhere I've been (dealer, Sears Auto, Merchants Tires) says that my liberty has ~50% left on the brake pads, the rotors were just completely replaced about 2 months ago, but everytime the brakes are pressed they squeek horribly:confused: . Can anyone recommend something to stop the squeeking or what can be the problem?

They sell stuff at the parts store to stop sqealing, it goes on the back of the pads. Don't really know if it works.

Other problem with jeeps dodges chevy's etc is the pins that the caliper floats on get stuck. Caliper does not float, makes one side drag (I.ve always seen the inside) and wears that pad out. That makes it sqeal, then grind.

Take your caliper loose from the bracket that holds the pads, and see if the pins move. They are the part that the caliper bolts atach to, sorry I don't know what they are called.

HTree things I know if will cause them to sqeek or sqeal. The bolt as Jim said, Viberation which is what that silicone stuff you put on the back of the pad is for, yes it does work, or pad is crystalized and hardened, from over heating.

What type of pads were installed when the rotors were replaced ? Ceramic? semi metallic? cheap organic? makes a big differeance.

semi metallic pads on rotors designed for ceramic and they'll squeak and chatter like the wheels are falling off.

Also, there should be "shims" behind the pads, as an vibration dampner (a squeak is a high speed vibe rubbing the caliper)

If a shop did this work they should be standing behind their work, go back and find out what the hell they did.

If you did it yourself, buy the GOOD pads, don't cheap out, as this is why you have the problem.
