Secondhand Tin Can.

Yeah come winter time I'll probably take the spacers out to help keep it warm enough and so I'll have heat. I dont understand the design because theres no where for the heat to go as it is cooling down. I'm so happy to finally have the heat sink problem fixed.

Yep, annoying as heck. I thought I would close mine up in the winter too, but didn't need to. There was plenty of heat. And yes, it's a stupid but I don't believe it was a problem when designed due to 100% gas. Just my opinion, but I think it reared it's head when the E90 came on scene.

After it sat in the hot sun while I was in Walmart for about 45 minutes it read 210 on the garage cluster but it started up fine. Not sure which is helping more the raised hood or the heat shield.

After going to potts mountain 2 times and just riding with other people I finally wheeled my jeep out there. I'm always a little reserved about wheeling my jeep since its my daily driver. I was very impressed with how my jeep did. I decided not to do any of the optional obsicles and took the "bypass" around slick rock. The bypass still involved a small 2 foot ledge at the top of a hill.
I still had fun and got to push my limits as a driver. Just wish I would have waited at the bowl so troy could have gotten some pictures but I was to excitied and didnt want to wait. I did get a few shots of my doing pride rock.

Only bad part about the trip is it makes me want to spend money to go ahead and get my 34s and long arms on lol.

Well after ignoring a random pop I have had for the past year it finally showed it self when the u joint went completely out and started binding. 3 out of 4 caps were missing needle bearings on the driver side and 1 on the passenger side. Just like anything I try to upgrade and fix it doesnt go smoothly at all. I had the top of one cap bust off. The rest of the cap wouldnt budg with anything I threw at it. Luckily I had a spare set of shafts. The caps were tacked on, I think that's what kept them together this long. Now the whole front end has been replaced over the past year. I used tomken unit bearings and Spicer u joints.

So alot of big changes are coming to the jeep in the next month. This weekend I was able to catch a great deal on a winch bumper. Ended up going with smittybilt xrc mod bumper from 4 wheel parts. Paired with a 9.5k smittybilt winch.

I also ordered the JCR steering box spacer so I can go ahead and replace the stock one when I pull the bolts to put the unibody tie ins on. I'm also going to wire in a quick disconect plug into the winch.

Finally got everything for the long arms. Around the first of the year I'm going to purchase my final two skid plates for it.

I’d probably skip the quick disconnect on the winch if you aren’t putting it in a cradle. Just one less thing to go wrong in the electrical dept.

It is nice to have a disconnect if something malfunctions and you can build a set of jumpers cables that will connect without raising the hood also.

That's actually what I was thinking.

Well this made things fun. Ended up going and picking up a used one because this one started leaking like no tomorrow when I was pulling it out.

Replace that spacer while you’re in there. Iron Man Andy has them and they’re beefy. It’s only $30

I got a jcr but its messed up. It wont let all three line up. So my jeep is dead in the water for a bit.

Finally got the bumper and winch on. I ran into a few problems. First was a bolt broke off in the steering box. Then the new spacer was crooked. Then one of the carriage bolts for my tow hooks decided to round out its hole. One of the bolts for my steering box brace was seized in its sleeve and was gonna be right in the center of the bracket for the passenger side tie in. So I just took out the bolt since the brace still has two and now I have a good spacer and the tie in plate on the driver side.

Now the bumper is on, the winch is wired up and re-spooled.

Also you get weird looks from neighboors when you are winching in the cul de sac.

Looks good Keith!!

oh and you should see the looks I get in my neighborhood... :D

Never would have guessed how much of a difference a steering dampener made. Mine started leaking when I dropped my drag link down. I ordered a 20 dollar one on amazon and just got it put in. Steering is a good type of stiffer.

Progress so far. Front axel pulled completely out and tore apart except the carrier. Np242 is almost out.

Well today I got the old transfer case out and the 231 in. Also passed the point of no return on this long arm build. I got one lower control arm mount cut off.

What kind of long arm setup are you going to run?
