Broke down in Nags Head

Got problems with my '06 Superduty 4x4.

Anybody in the Nags Head area, or can point me to a shop?

Seems to be front output on t-case.

(not my fault...been in 2wd all week...got wife and dog, so haven't been driving on the beach)

Couldn't you just pull the front driveshaft out?

Or are you offload where you need 4wd?

Don't have so much as a screwdriver with me this trip.

Looks like it may be a known problem with these trucks, nut that retains yoke loosens and makes the squeaking/chirping noise.

Found a local shop to look at tomorrow.

you can walk in an autozone and buy what you need to pull the driveshaft for next to nothing.

Probably borrow it, they usually have a box of tools behind the counter.

Ended up letting a local shop look at it.

Turned out it was a bad ujoint at the top end of the front driveshaft. Didn't have movement, just the noise, didn't take much movement to get a good chirp out of it. Root cause evidently is a bad driver side front automatic lock-out hub. Guy at the shop used to work at Ford dealer shop, said they saw a lot of them. I'm going to just replace with Warn manual hubs if I can. Won't have to deal with it again.

I just pulled the front driveshaft and drove it home. Deal with that next weekend.

Don't think you can do that with 2005+ trucks. I have an 05 and looked into doing the same.

Yep, found out last night, no Warn/Milemarkers/etc. There is dynatrac, though...two grand.
