I woke up this morning with a peice of tooth floating around in my mouth. One of my bottom front teeth broke and it scared the shit out of me. It broke at the bottom where the tooth made contact with my gums. It doesn't hurt and it's not visable but it's no kinda of good. I don't have any insurance:confused:. I'm pretty sure it's gonna have to be pulled out and I'll have to have a fake tooth made. Any one here have a false tooth? How much ballpark and I looking at to fix this? I'm going to work on getting insurance tomorrow but it's looking like Blue Cross and Blue Shield plan only covers 50% of major dental work. I guess this would be considers major. I also don't know how long I will have to wait before the insurance can be used. I just hope it comes into effect soon so I don't have to be without a front tooth. I bet it will still cost me well 1,000 with insurance.

No thats the crazy thing....just broke.

They'll cover 50% of dental usually. Getting a tooth pulled is done by an oral surgeon, and it should be covered as medical which is 70-80% covered depending on your insurance. Sometimes better, but you have to have a heck of a good plan for it to be better.

It's going to set you back a few hundred bucks either way. More if you can't file on your insurance that isn't active yet.

Yeah, be careful about the preexisting condition clause, and I am sure there is at least a one month waiting period for claims.

My son had his broke off lush with his gum when he was about 8. permanent top front tooth. Oh and it was his sister who did it. She pushed the trigger on one of those shoot out pop open umbrella's!
Anyway, they beveled it, and glue a fake tooth to the original piece. Has been replaced twice. He is 23 now. No more apples or corn on the cob

Would Home owners pay for it?

I don't know...how would present it to them as a case that homeowner should cover?

Tell them you were coming up the steps (wooden) and one broke...sending you tumbling to the ground..hitting your tooth on the concrete walk way...tell them that they are lucky that you are still alive!

Ask Dentist if he can perform a Fuji #9. Its a two part bonding dental material he/she can use to reshape the tooth and protect it until you can address it later. I sheared off a molar and went with the Fuji for awhile. Its a quick and simple procedure that shouldn't cost much.

Good luck with that tooth.

That's why when you first get married, everyone always tells you to never go to bed mad.

I broke a top front tooth when I was 12. They fugi'd it and its still there. Last year one of my molars broke and I had to get a crown and it was 900 bucks.

I feel for you... the Mrs. had a crown/root canal last year. With insurance it was around a grand.

Find out about your insurance asap!!!

If it's really bothering you, insurance or not, go to the dentist! Explain to him your situation, they may work with you.

If it were to get infected and you let it go you could die from the infection. Not very likely, put possible...

You could always join the military for health care!

hell yea

Hahaha...they would tell me to get the took fixed first

Tooth

Sounds like the tooth was already dead ( the nerve inside the tooth ) because you have no pain !!This will most likely need a post build-up(to have something to glue a crown on to) or remove tooth completely and replace with a implant. It is going to be real money either way. Good Luck!!!

Yea...I'm pretty sure my front two bottom teeth will have to be removed and have sweet removable teeth made

:flipoff2:

I went to the dentist today and got some good news. My tooth didn't break. A chunk of calculus broke free from the tooth. I'm going to have to teeth cleaned at 1 today. They said that my gum irratation should shop a few weeks days after the cleaning.
