Brown Mountain

Not much there....

There is only one trail you can ride on in a rig....not much fun...one trail straight up the middle...the only way to see Brown mountain is on a atv....maybe a club could talk to someone and open it up to all rigs....alot of neat places up there just cant get to them via rig...(legally)Watch for pro class riders....speed limit is 1000mph....hate to make one a grill....c-ya:wheel:

Brown mtn orv

I am currently talking with the person over Brown mtn orv trails trying to get more trails open to our sport she said it would not be this season possibly next year she has to put it before the panel then research it,do soil testing, blah blah blah. But from what she said it is a good chance of it happening. If it does we will need volunteers to help clear and widen trails and keep the area clean same trail maint just like any other place. I will try and keep posting on here when I hear from her.:driver:

If half this board knew what was up there I'm sure there would be a bigger push for this. I would be more than happy to volunteer and pay more to be able to ride more trails and possibly make new ones there. The place has endless opportunities and no trout streams to worry over:shaking:

Tim Odell (firetoy) and I went riding there a few wks. ago on our atv/dirtbikes so its still fresh in my mind.

I know where the good old trails used to be, I bet Chip does too. If we could clear that we would be in business.

Let me know for sure. I'm up there all of the time, post up if there need to be any letters written or volunteer work done.

I am talking with Bud at Budbuilt we are going to start a written petition and when i figure out how to do one on line i'll start one here to. I will keep everybody posted. Thanks for the support.

Is this a Forest Service property? If so they probably have an "OHV use plan" that would have to be altered to allow more "jeep" access vs atv. That can be done but will take a while (and will take a receptive Rangers office)

One of the very first steps might be to contact the Rangers office and ask / tell them you are considering organizing a clean up day on the jeep trail, and ask if there are any other projects they need done. (Forest Svc can get "cash" / credit for this from the gov't or at lease URE does by taking down the names and info on the workers / hours, etc)

Great idea Sam. I know we could get a crew up there and work and camp for the night as well.

X2! That place has serious potential for some extreme wheeling with killer hill climbs due to the topograhy. I believe the current amount of open trails there is more than 30 miles or something. About twice what Uwharrie has.

Sam, this is in the Pisgah National Forest, so the rules and regulations are just like Uwharrie. The little yellow trail pass pay stubs use to be just like the ones at Uwharrie.

That is whom i am dealing with she said that would probably be next year that they had to do soil testing to make sure it could support our sport. The person i'm talking to she use to be over Uwharrie so she is familiar with the sport and local clubs she seemed excited about possibly trying on getting the ball rolling on this and she informed me she would keep in contact.

I would be glad to help. I may go ahead and make contact with some local officials and business owners to get them on board with the idea. Sounds like there's already some momentum to build on.

Negative on the camping, they have it there, pretty nice sites as well. But if you pop a top on a  they take your ass to jail:flipoff2:
I'd rather camp on Wilson Creek anyway:lol:

Same is actually true at Uwharrie actually.. at the very least it needs to be in a dixie cup / hid. I don't drink so this has not been an issue for me but I know folks like to drink a cold one or two when they get back to camp.

Keep us in the loop and LCruiser, if you can, ask her if she would like us to just come up and do a trash pickup day on the one main trail? (Might be something the Ih8mud / TLCA / Olde North State Cruiser guys would be interested in doing as a club?) I prefer fairly easy wheeling and nice views so Brown Mtn would be nice to check out.
