2002 grand cherokee 4.0 auto 100150 miles first off the motor is idleing all f*cked up when you crank it up it jumps to 2000 rpm some times, but its getting to were its doing it all the time im going to chang the iac this weekend okay 2nd. when youre driving it at about 45-60 it seems to raise and lower rpms by about a hundreth this is when i really notice it the most and last the brakes, when im setting at a ligh at a dead stop and i start to go it like they load up and let go and it jumps forward almost like the barkes are locking up but on the the hand sometime it like the motor is to much for the brakes and you have to push really hard on the brakes to keep the jeep stopped. ive read a lot of forums but no one really gives a strait answer on how they fixed there problems i just got this thing about 4 mounth ago and it just started doing all this at the same time so i dont know if its all linked to the motor somehow or not any info well really help thanks

First off it's a WJ

Go to the parts store, or a shop, and get them to scan it. It will give you an idea of whats wrong, prob just a sensor.

You can also turn the key on and off, without starting it, 3 times IIRC and it will show codes on the odometer.

Here's a lost of codes.

lotes of problems

wj thanks thought it was zj any ways y dont it throw codes when it reads there something wrong with the sensors ill try it to night do you think its all linked together thanks

problems

okay turned the key 3 times it said done then nothing so i took it up to auto zone and they had no codes so know what????

How's the tranny fluid? The torque converter could be locking and unlocking causing swings in RPMs at highway speeds. Just a thought.
What size tires and gears are you running? Larger tires with factory gearing can cause the tranny to shift differently and torque converter to lock and unlock more often.

problems

its all stock this is my dd fluid is good when i first got it i had to change Transmission Governor Pressure Sensor but thats it. it has a hard shift but every one i have talked to say that they shift hard so i dont now what to do i cant really complain it always cranks up and drives but im trying to keep it that way

bunch of problems

okay so how do i tell wich one it is everthing i have ready has lead me to changing my iac i guess i just need to chang both of them

Most likely you have a bad TPS ( throttle postion sensor) The TPS will mess with how your transmission shifts too.
:stupid:

IAC wouldd explin some symptoms, but collectively its almost a guarantee TPS....

Then again, My 2001 ZJ had to have the tranny rebuilt (before i bought it) due to some of the same symptoms. They dont last long. I would agree with the " go to auto zone" and have the codes checked advice. I mean, after all, thats what the freaking OBD computers are for. But, thats just me,
