long story short, i just got my ZR2 after two years, its missing the trans and T-case, the truck was/is a 5speed, but i cant figure out how to crank it up to make sure the engine is still good since its been sitting so long, now can i bypass the clutch switch to start the truck up? btw someone installed a fly wheel from a auto on there...

the truck is a 03 Chevy S10 ZR2

look up under the dash, above the clutch pedal somewhere. there is a connector there. there is probably 2-8 wires coming into it. find the right two and join them together. if you pull the connector off, you can find the start wire by holding the key in start and probing with a test light. when you find it, it will light up when in start position only. write wire color down. to find the other, take a ohm meter and connect one end to the small wire that goes to the solenoid on the starter (maybe the starter relay in the panel), and find the pin in the connector that has continuity. write wire color down. Take a splice tap (blue blocks that you can slip one wire in and another wire end in), cut out the part that stops the wire end, and crimp it on both the wires. Crank away.

alternatively, just jump the solenoid on the starter, or pull the starter relay and pull the cover and reinstall the relay without the cover and push the contactor over (my favorite jeep method, easy, quick, and reversible). or use a remote start switch. or push the clutch.
