Im looking at a comanche that has a bad heater core in it, the owner said in order for me to drive it home I would have to bypass the heater core. Ive not heard of doing this before and would like to know if its safe to do or even possible, the comanche would be making a trip from the Raleigh area to Concord.

perfectly safe
very easy
the only thing it does is eliminates heat.
To do look at left side of firewell inside hood compartment.
you will see 2 5/8" hoses going in.
Whack them both off and connect the 2 ends that go back to the engine.
1) you will need a hose connector or hose splice to do this they cost ~ $1 at advance
2) you will have 2 hoses (one from each side of heater core) coming out of firewall from inside hanging loose, dont sweat these.

Rock On

I had to do this to my cherokee last week because I cracked the plastic 4 way junction near the firewall while replacing a valve cover gasket. You'll be fine. BTW, I did mine without an adapter. I just removed one hose, and used the other as a loop at the front of the engine. Just another way to do the same thing :D. Good luck.

Thanks for all the replies, this method would only be used to get the Jeep back home, I would then take the time to fix it. Thanks again.
