Putting new tires on the Ranger, 38x12.5x16.5 TSLs. Should I get the C rated or E rated?

I have a buddy telling me to go with the E rated because it will be stronger and last longer. But the C rated tires are cheaper and I'm not sure how a tire that stiff will do on my light Ranger. I drive it around town here and to the trails but that's about it.

Thanks.

The E rated tire will have more plies in the tread and sidewall making it stiffer. The C rated tire will flex better when aired down. I dont think that the E rated tire will last any longer unless you are thinking about trail damage. I would bet that the rubber compound on the tread is the same.

You may want to ask and I could be wrong, but I think the E is a bias ply and the C is a radial. Now I do know for sure that the E is a ten ply and the C is a six ply. My two cents if it is on the road more, go with the C, lighter, better ride. If it will be on the trail more then the E, thicker, stand up better to rock rash

Maybe I don't wheel hard enough, but I haven't noticed any difference when aired down. But I do notice a shit ton difference with on road stability, especially if hauling/trailering.

If they're just regular TSLs, they're both bias ply. They make TSL Radials, SSRs, etc...

Personally, I'd go with whichever is cheaper. Either one will do fine. I bought tires for my Silverado when it was stock, and believe it or not, a 265/75-16 Kuhmo AT was cheaper in a Load E than a Load C. Naturally, I got the E.
