Anyone know of any cabins with hot tubs that are being rented the last weekend in October? My wife is having fairly major surgery in early November and she has a long recovery, so I want to take her to the mountains for a relaxing weekend away before she has to go through all that stuff. She's nervous as hell, as we all are, and I'd like to give her something to get her mind off of it. I looked on VRBO and AirBNB but everything is either expensive or booked. Beach place might be good too, she really wants a hot tub though.

Anyone know of anything?

I've stayed in a cabin at Nantahala Village before. Might be worth a try.

Maybe take a ride on the train.

Check around Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills and Kitty Hawk at the OBX on VRBO. Wife and I went a few years ago in October and it was nice. Not crowded, temps were still decent, restaurants still open, etc. Place we stayed had a hot tub, as that was a requirement for us.

You should check at Good Evening Ranch cabins are great and scenery is too. I dont know if they even have hot tubs but its a great place

@77GreenMachine recommended these and they are AWESOME. By far one of the best bang-for-bucks out there. I highly recommend. They cater to a little different clientele that I am, but we enjoyed it non the less.

OBX is an entirely different animal thanks to COVID. Just a heads up.

How so? Just curious because the wife and I really like going to the OBX and may plan a trip.
It is packed in october with out of state people. At least the last 2 octobers were. We tried to find something for this month last summer and nothing was available. October is the new july. The house we rented last oct was 9 bedrooms and 2nd row back in Corolla. Cost was around $2500 for the week. This year, same house, same week, was $8k and booked solid.

Damn everyone figured out my cheap ass trick.

For reasons mentioned above. And people who can work remotely are spending weeks out of season out there. Came back from Duck last Saturday and the bridge into southern shores was backed up across the water with rental guests coming into town to start their vacation.
