Here is my current design,

picture.php

This going in a TJ and the blue is the factory hoop that i am going to work off of. The grey is what i am adding, 1.75 material.

Do you see any thing that needs additional bracing? Or any thing that looks like its just a bad idea.

Just looking for Opinions on this.

Thanks

The two gussets at either corner of the windshield, I would make em a little longer so that they could double as a grab handle. That's assuming there is enough clearance. Also, the bar that runs across the back at the bottom will make it difficult to get gear in and out of the back.

Is this used as a 2 seater or 4 seater? Also top or no top?

I am not a pro by any means, but I would think you need some support from the cage collapsing or folding front to back. Maybe like this? Triangulation is the word I was looking for.

you still should work in some sort of cross bars behind the seats. Put the cross bar lower for easier access. put the X braces in there but not meeting all the way in the middle. Its not ideal, but its better than nothing at all.

what is that bent piece on the B pillar? not really sure what its purpose is?

Can give me a better idea of how to do the cross bar behind the seats and still have access to the rear, Just trying to visualize it.

The bent piece will house a light, I got a little carried away.

what program did you use to create that drawing?

If you are using the factory bar, not tied into the frame, your original pic is just fine. You're not gonna be able to get an x behind the seats using the factory bar anyway, unless you are a midget. I don't see the bars you have going around the bottom of the rear of the cage doing anything, except getting in the way.

If you are going to tie it into the frame, I'd just build a whole new cage, and then add some diagonal bracing where it will fit and not be in the way.

This is what I had done to mine after having a cage built like the one above. -And Jim knows his shit.

If you're going to run the dash bar above the dash you'll likely not have more than 12" to see out of=extremely annoying.
