Camping @ Harlan, campfires, and theft?

Planning to go the Harlan later this month, tying to figure out a good place to camp. I know for the ECORS race we camped near White Tail Crawl, I thought that was a pretty good place. Are there any other areas that have a good "view", are accessible with a truck/trailer? Also, I don't remember anyone @ the ECORS race having a campfire, is it not allowed?

My main concern is leaving the truck/trailer there during the day, I have heard some issues about theft at Harlan, is this a MAJOR issue of there? I will lock everything up in the trailer, I just hope to not come back to busted locks (or windows)

Thanks

Anywhere along the trails out of the way is ok to camp. Just keep in mind open scenery areas are more windy. There's lots of good spots like white tail. You can build a fire to the best of my knowledge. I've never had problems with theft. I think it's mostly punk in town that grab stuff not put up. Just lock when you leave and I think you will be ok.

Camp at the Dairy Hut lot. More secure, you don't have to worry (lock stuff anyway), police patrol through there, camp fires allowed and wood provided, bathroom handy, food close by, all worth $20 to me :)

you need to wait till i get home to make this trip michael lol! the we can test out your Fab skills hahahaha!

I think lokiracer and REDLYNER had a small cooking fire going at the ECORS race. Probably the reason no one had a huge bonfire going was because it was August and pretty darn hot!

agreed!!!

no shit...I saw a little red man with a pitchfork running under Todd Pucket's sweet Tarp/Canopy A/C set up to escape the heat.

I'd stay at the cabins behind the Gulf (former chevron) its like $50 a night inlcudes heat/air showers hot water fridge microwave and stove and real beds....plus plenty secure. Best of all how many chances do you get o ride your buggy on the street legally?
