Can I put BFG 33 12.50 on 10" rims

sure, lots of people run that setup, but if you plan on running fairly low pressures i'd be SLIGHTLY more worried about losing a bead over an 8 inch wheel, which i would prefer, but a 10 inch should work just fine at all but the lowest pressures

I run 33x12.50's on 10's. Used to have GY Wranglers, now run BFG MT's. The BFG is a narrower tire, although the same spec size, 33x12.50x15. Tread width is about 3/4" narrower. That said, I'd run the GY's as low as about 12-15 PSI and never lost a bead at Uwharrie, WITC, other similar trail systems. The BFG's I'm not gonna run below 18, and think I'll be fine. I went to 10's from 8's because I do run a couple of thousand miles a year on the road with the CJ, and if I got air pressure up enough to handle OK, then I got wear down the center. The 10 flattens out the tread more. Probably less of a problem with the more narrow BFG's.

I am asking because a freind of mine wants to trade me my BFG 33" for his BFG 35" . He has 10" rims I have 8" . I am runing 5 3/4 lift and 4:56 gears so I think I would like the ground clearance.

I ran 33x12.50 BFG muds on 10" wheels for a while. I aired down to 15 psi with no problems. A BFG doesn't really need to be aired down much lower than that to get good sidewall flexability. To each his own, but i never had any problems with it.

when i first started wheeling 4-5 years ago...that is the combo i had on my toyota. After every trip i would have to knock the front bead off of the rim and clean the dirt out or they would just leak down in the parking lot.

I would strongly suggest a 8" rim...espically if you are not planning on running bead locks.

My opinion of course.

Nope. Those wheels and tires were specifically designed not to be used together. :flipoff2:

Please do not run this setup as it will genade at approximately 36 MPH on the highway......the wheels cant take the exponentially greater radial loading this places on the aft filangee of the wheel.
I would recommend going stock on everything.:huggy:
