Taken last weekend when the wife and I went down and celebrated Dads birthday. Had spent the morning walking the property and retagging it. Found some open land that had drained when a beaver dam was busted up and made some short wheeling trails. Then we shot 300 rounds each through his new 12gauge over/under that I got him, then I made some high speed runs in the Willys in the field edges. The v8 was especially happy with the cold air and would break loose in all the gears. Spent the evening in a deer stand with my .17watching the sun go down and looking for varmints. Smiled so much that day that my face hurt. :huggy: Simple things are the best. Happy birthday Pops!

Man, I love that old Willys. I had a '62 Willys in high school and right after 25 years ago. That is one of those stupid things you sell as a kid before you really understand what you have in your possession. Thanks for letting me reminisce:beer:

wow, After shooting 3 rounds of skeet I normally start flinching because of a sore shoulder. thats a lot of shooting

Man, thats great! Thanks for sharing that story and some of the details. I spent an extremely similar day with my Dad last Fall like that and was just looking at the pictures from it today. Like you said, "Simple things are the best". Love that Willys too.

300 rounds is just getting started. then I shot a box of .30-06 and two of .17 (not that it hurts) and two of .357 - having guns is useless unless you can hit what youre aiming at- and learning not to flinch is 90% of it.
yes, that sucker is FASSSST. when you mount a 600cfm on a V8, you get instant zooooom. glad that its flat as a pancake down there and the field edges are wide. the rollbar is not for looks! I have to keep it in 4wd so as to not rip the drivetrain out. it was all rebuilt recently so as to not have any weak-er links, but its mostly stock.

its faster now, I tweaked the carb and got the clutch fixed

i'm usually sore after 3 rounds of skeet too. no way i'd go 300 shots.

thats 12 rounds!!!!!

Sweet willys man, Its always nice to have a good day now and then. They are the best.

sidenote: Them most i've ever shot is 800 rounds of 12 ga and about 600 rounds of .223 and over 150 rounds of .45 all in one day. That was an awesome day back when skeet was cheap and so was ammo. It looked like a war zone when we all finished shooting that day there were brass and shells everywhere.

Sweet Flatty...Enjoy the Time with Family & Friends

I still can't picture stanly shooting guns all day. I am definitely jealous of your weekend.
then you aught to see him, Mom, Katie and I in the Willys- THATS funny. he sits ON it, not in it.
remember that he was raised on what he could grow/kill, and he was 250# in 6th grade = hes shot more ammo at critters than clays, but hes catching up. hes a good shot, but Im better :huggy:. he was raised on a 12g side/side and killed everything from rabbits to deer. we have a true skeet range and shoot whenever we go, and haul the ammo and clays with a wheelbarrow.
