You might be able to break it down without messing up the gaskets, clean and reassemble. If it's got a float check it for leaks.

I like the Berryman carb cleaner that's in a bucket. Dunk it in for a night or two if really crusty. Rinse with water and dry with compressed air.

that bowl almost looks like it threads on. If so, i doubt it has many or any gaskets. pull the bowl, clean the float and seat, clean out all the passages and needles, and reassemble.

Most bowls have an o ring, you can make a gasket for the others.

Just be careful removing the jets and needle/seat those might be harder to find.

Hopefully nobody else has been in there before, that is always my luck previous owner stripped out the brass jets and seat.

So, conclusion. Dad went to all the known shops in the area and they basically laughed him out of town. “It’s too old”. So he went to Napa and bought a gallon of berrymens with the soaker basket. Soaked it over night through Saturday. Put it all back together after an in depth cleaning of the needle, jets, etc. and blowing it all out with the air hose. Added a new oring for the bowl and was driving it around this afternoon. Sometimes the best solution is just run whatcha brung.
Thanks for all the help as always!
