Well I am sad to report that the people over at Cary auto park Jeep are a bunch of cheap stingy people. We have a situation here and I thought I would rant and let everyone know about it. It seems that the head service Manager and the head Sales manager don't care about loyal customers. I know a close friend of mine that works near by me and has had a TON of trouble with his 2wd 2005 Grand cherokee Limited.

It has been into the shop 5 times for major stuff including 3 times for the transmission. He has missed many work days and time countless hours due to this problem. Now all they want to do for him is put a new tranny in it and send him away. Thats :gay: . I mean they could stand to loose a customer and they dont mind a bit!!! Well I was wondering if anyone knows anyone over ther and can help me out with this LEMON and get it out of my buddy's face. Any help or advice or comments would be grateful.

The other times included fog lights staying on and killing battery and the sunroof and winshield seals not properly installed leading to inches of standing water in floorboard and entire dash soaked. YIKES!!!! DAMN!!! HELP!!

This article stems from a rise in the number of complaints surrounding automobile repair. It is not meant as legal advice. As such, you should consult a private attorney for assistance in your particular situation.

North Carolina Lemon Law permits the first owner of a new motor vehicle to petition the manufacturer for a replacement vehicle or a full refund if one of two conditions are met:

1) The same defect has been presented to the manufacturer or its authorized agent for repair and the same problem continues to exist; or

2) The vehicle has been out of service for twenty or more business days during one year for a series of problems.

Only the original owner of a vehicle can petition for lemon law. Also, the vehicle problems need to have occurred during the first two years of ownership, or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first. There are remedies available under the Magnuson-Moss Federal Warranty Act for those consumers who do not fall into this category.

If you are having difficulty getting a particular problem repaired properly, speak to the dealership service manager first. Be sure to describe the problem in great detail and to ask if there are any applicable technican service bulletins (TSBs) available for the problem you are reporting or a related component. Ask the dealer to reflash your control modules with new software, such as your powertrain control module, body control module, ABS control module, radio, climate control or navigation system. Often, there is a documented repair available for a common but hard-to-diagnose problem. If he/she cannot resolve the situation, consider another dealer. If that does not solve the problem, consider contacting the manufacturer directly in writing. Doing so helps preserve your legal rights.

If you think you may have no choice but to apply for relief under North Carolina Lemon Law, contact us. We may be able to help you amicably resolve the situation or assit you with your repairs.

if his situation meets these specs, they have to buy it back

1st) Have your buddy sign up here and post his rant. We do not need to here about this problem with his Jeep and or Cary Jeep second hand.

2nd) Tell your buddy to contact the BBS and the NC Attn. Gen about his problems

Slow down, keep your cool, and be mature. Look at the 2nd thing I posted. The BBS and the Attn. Gen are here for a reason.

Who cares what I drive, my other vehicale could be a Jeep.......

Nowhere in your first post do you ask for any specific advice..you're just venting.

The dealership wanting to finally replace the entire transmission sounds like a good course of action, if parts wouldn't do it before..

You drive a jeep, don't you know it's a pile? Hell, I wouldn't own what I do if the Cummins wasn't powering it.

okay i got a jeep so maybe i can chime in here.

Your buddy needs to be reasonable about his requests to the dealer. It sounds like they are replacing the offending part not replacing it. As far as the water in the cabin, there are also measures that can be taken to correct this problem and the damaged interior parts.

Your buddy bought a vehicle with a warranty didn't he? It sounds like everything is getting fixed under warranty? Isn't that what a warranty is for?

Machines don't always work like they are supposed to. Sometimes the techs dont have their "crystal balls" with them that day.

As a operations/service manager in a different industry, I have to agree with the last couple thoughts here. As long as equipment is made or installed or otherwise touched by human beings, mistakes will be made(Think of your first day on your job, were you as profficient as you are now?). The measure of a company is what they do to remedy these mistakes.

From what you've posted, your friend ( I also would like to hear his story first hand) First had a fog light issue, that has been replaced. Then a leak issue that was fixed(hopefully any consequentials were remedied also). Now has had repeat tranny problems. However it sounds like plans are in process to replace the entire offending piece.

Realistically what more can you expect from this company? Fair enough, your answer may be to build a vehicle with zero problems, but would you (or in this case your friend) be willing to pay when the price triples to make up for the quality control trials that would need to be implemented. Or how about receiving a "brand new" vehicle with 10,000 miles on the odometer to make sure all is functioning properly. I tink that is a fairly unealistic expectation.

He has had a run of bad luck, make the company fix it. I think it is fair to expect them to provide some form of transportation during the repairs since he depends on the vehicle, but after that when is enough, enough?

Either way, it sucks. Good Luck.

Do an internet search on NC Lemon Laws. The state has specific laws for what is deemed to be a problem vehicle (sorry, I don't think the law is specific to Jeeps :p).

If the vehicle doesn't fall under the law's definition of a lemon, then he's probably limited to what the dealership will do for him.

My advice is to contact corporate and the area chrysler rep on top of contacting the BBS and attn gen

Why the hell would you want the Chrysler rep involved if they are agreeing to replace the entire transmission unit under warranty? You only get the rep involved when you AREN'T getting what you feel is deserved under the coverage of the warranty...

Sheesh, and ya wonder why it's so hard to get face time with these guys, when customers are bitching about nothing.

Josh, honestly, what would YOU expect the rep to do... offer a spare trans to be installed in the hatch? an upgrade to a new truck?

My first Jeep a '97 TJ 4cyl auto devoloped a skip that could not be fixed after 7 trips to the dealer after 7k miles Jeep contacted me and bought it back and gave me an allowance of $6500 additional towards another Jeep product.

I turned around and bought a '97 4.0 5 speed fully loaded. And have had it ever since.

It was covered under the lemon law then. No questions asked.

This was at Smith Stokes Jeep in Reidsville.

You really did not provide enough information for me to form an opinion.
Has the dealership mislead or argued with him in anyway, have they told him there nothing they can do, or have they fixed everything under warranty. If the later is the case then there really is not much use in getting anyone involved. They have fullfilled their part of the bargin.

If he has taken it back enough for it qualify under the Lemon Laws then I would do that. I would not call the dealership out on it they did not build the thing they just sold it. From what you posted it sounds like they have done their best to satisfy your friend. Check the lemonm laws and see if it qualifies then find out how you go about making a lemon law claim and do that.

ok thanks everyone

What a cop-out........You arent going to tell us how it plays out:confused:

Well I was wondering if anyone knows anyone over ther and can help me out with this LEMON and get it out of my buddy's face.

Seriously...if this is what constitutes a "lemon" for DC/jeep then they're going to be recalling a lot of vehicles...:flipoff2: But seriously, when haven't jeep transmissions been a pita? Auto or manual..

my AX-15 has 93,000 miles on it and has only been rebuilt once :D .

Appearantly I took his post wrong. He wanted advice I did like everyone else and offered advice. I felt the dealer was jacking around. I called the area rep and got the issue resolved. Figured this rant would be along the same lines
