caster question

have cj w/44frt 4.5" sua lift ,more shackle rev. 37" mtr's, after clocking 300 up it looks like front pinion yoke should come up some.thinking about a degree shim between perch & spring. existing caster is 6* , what is min. caster i can go to & still have decent road manners? was thinking 3*?. jeep is not a dd but does get some street time, its trailered to wheelin spots. what say you all

I think you can get away with less caster with big tires. The bigger tires increase trail.

well the factory setting was prob around 3*, but you could go all the way to 0* and still be decent on the road (thats what the IH Scouts had factory)

Factory settings are 5-7*. That is where you want to stay if you want to keep everything in line. You may be able to get away with 3*but you will have to try it with your setup/axle and they go from there.

0* does not work unless you have that exact Scout setup......

3* may or may not work based on your setup.

Just remember that the farther you push out of the 5-7* range, the farther out of range the camber on the tires with be as well.
