Was leaving work today and saw some people laying under a Toyota Sequoia being the nice person I went to try and help out. She had both of her cats cut out today, while at work on Centennial Campus at NC State. Not in a parking deck but in a lot right across the street from the building people go by all the time. Just letting everyone know and to keep an eye on your cats.

I'm seriously thinking about a skid plate under my truck to make it hard to get to. But then they'd probably get pissed at my attempt to stop them and do something like cut my brake lines. :O

I sold 4 used converters last week for over $750, it's more than just a few bucks. I sold one off a BMW a few weeks ago (one now) $440.
Yes, I own a shop and get them legit.

did you sell them to scrap yard or to a person?

cause scrap yards around here are not giving that much for them

He actually takes them off old Caddy's and just SAYS its from a Beamer...

shit if someone on the forum is doing it tell them i keep my jeep over off of hillsborough street on campus and they can steal the one under it so i can redue my exhaust

i am about to start ripping them off my scrap jeeps if you can get that much for them.

They'll be really disappointed if they manage to shimmy under my T/A..

I wonder how much I could get for the cat off my PSD. I stole it and replaced it with a Cat delete when I put the MBRP on last year. I've got the Cat locked up at the house just incase I need it, but if I can get a few bones for it.....

screw that i am breaking into your house and taking that humongous piece of platinum field juiciness

last time we bought cats for a 740il bmw they were like 1200.00 each

How in the world are used cats worth more than ones you can buy new?

I think over time they produce platinum inside? Think thats what one guy was telling me.

On another note, a good friend has been buying fox body mustangs for about 7 years. Earlier this year he decided to start scrapping them. Six hours and a pack of sawzall blade and he made 2500 just off of converters. I dont recall how many cars he had, but damn!

the constant heating and cooling from the engine refines the platinum into a better grade of platinum

That why they are worth so much , and alot of time they are more expensive used than brand new.

The german cars are worth lots more than american or japanese

40 bucks, diesel converters don't pay shizzle....

Bruiser...it's an individual, comes by my shop and buys all my cores(converters, alt, start, battery, yahdahh yahdahh). European converters are where the $$$$ is....the domestic stuff just isn't worth a whole lot.

Suddenly my 30 or so parts car had new value. We took all of them off a few months ago and took in close to $2800 in old converters.

got two more from a job this morning on an ML430 one left and one right...4 converters total...woohooo!

Dont think this would help personally, but I thought i'd pass this along if your in Charlotte

CMPD: Engraving Catalytic Converters To Aid Recovery
The CMPD is partnering with local businesses to offer free engraving services for catalytic converters- which have recently become hot items for thieves looking to cash in on the valuable metals they contain.
While engraving a converter doesn't prevent theft, if enough people get them engraved, it can be a deterrent. Also, if your catalytic converters is stolen, it makes it easier for officers to recover.
The engraving takes about 10 minutes. The following businesses will provide the service free of charge at the following locations:
Meineke Car Care Center- 6447-A East Independence Blvd.
Firestone Complete Auto Care- 5340 E. Independence Blvd.
Griffin Tire Co.- 5200 E. Independence Blvd.
Goodyear Tire- 327 S. Polk Street, Pineville, NC
Fleet Truck- 700 Griffith Road
Meineke Car Care- 5235 South Blvd.
NOTE: Catalytic converter theft is an epidemic across the country. The price of platinum, one of the metals in the converter, has skyrocketed and thieves can get $50 for a converter from an unscrupulous scrap metal dealer...
