cb question

There aren't a lot of CB shops still around to my knowledge, your best bet is to stop by a truck stop if you are looking for somewhere local.

Your other options are to mail your CB out to a shop else where and get a peak n' tune done to the CB. Then pick up an SWR meter for about $20 and tune to the antenna to the CB.

I haven't mailed my CB out to a shop before, but it seems that its a fairly common thing. A lot of CB shops offer to do a peak n tune to Radios you buy from them even. But even if you don't do a peak n tune I would at least get an SWR meter to tune the antenna to the CB.

there was a shop on stratford road( near clemmons limits in a garage next to his house) in winston salem that was called CB discount. The guy gave the business to his son who changed it to discount performance and moved it to hanes mall parking lot (building beside dicks) that shut down and i think moved back to the stratford road location.

i dont know what name it goes by now, but they used to be the go to guys for CB tuning and set up.

i know that wasnt real helpful but its somewhere to start.

Shop in Greensboro is gone :(

If you want to come to Greensboro though, I have a meter we can put on it a see what we can do, I'm not a pro so no guarantee :)

Performance Enterprises

336-377-2911, on 66 in Rural Hall/Stanleyville.

The sign says it's a TV shop but it's a general electronics store also. He has several Radios/linears/accessories in stock. He has been pretty good to me in the past.

Are they still open? Where is it exactly? There was a shop near the RV place, but they've moved to the flea mkt, and I wasn't really impressed with their selection.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking about going up there to tune mine, but I guess I won't be doing that now

Exit 48 I-77 Winnsboro, SC Bill Humble, Humble Electronics. I know that is quite a trip for you but you can probably ship it to him for the service. Do a google search for his number. Good guy. I think he will peak it for about $20. He has a modulation circuit he adds for $35 He designed it and it does wonders. I had him install this in my Connex 4300 HP as well as variable talkback so I could use talkback with an external speaker without a squeal. Works really good. Everyone that hears the radio talk is impressed.

What is it?

Matt

Not sure if they moved, I haven't been there in a while. It wasn't far from the RV place. When I went there he had a large variety of cb equpiment. He used to have roughly 50-60 radios in stock.

There was a CB/Chrome shop on I77 a few exits north of Statesville as well. Got a little two pill heater from him a couple years back. Seemed to have several nice toys and a well-equipped bench. Don't know if he's still there though.

If you wanna drive, Broad River Truck Stop off I-85 just across the South Carolina line is pretty famous among truckers. It's not much to look at, but that guy has been messing with the things since day one. I got my Galaxy from him and people are asking about it all the time.

I plan on making the CTB ride in March. I will see how the cb does and if its not up to par, I may see you about tuning on it. I just have a radio shack cb and fiberglass antenna, so I dont know how well it will do. Vamos a ver.

James off of Stratford rd is back at his old place(garage beside house) he has done a lot of work for me in the past.
