Our Telecaom department sent this to us at work. so I thought I would pass it along
FYI!

You can also register on line @ donotcall.gov

REMINDER....9 days from today, all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls. YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS.

To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone:1-888-382-1222. It is the National DO NOT CALL list.
It will only take a minute of your time and it blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number.

From the top of the page at donotcall.gov:

Did you get an email claiming that your cell phone is about to be assaulted by telemarketing calls because of a new cell phone number database? Those claims are not true. In fact, federal law prohibits telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phones. You may place your personal cell phone number on the National Do Not Call Registry, but there is generally no reason to do so. For more information, see the FTC's press release "The Truth about Cell Phones and the Do Not Call Registry".

Guys it may not be true but this came from our companys IT department I would figure that they would know since we are a fairly large company. better to be safe than sorry

Your IT dept has been trolled. I've been at a bigger company that has done similar things. I've even seen an IT professional send out the "Good Times" virus warning three years out of date (and without checking the facts against the anti-virus manufacturer). Don't feel bad, and definitely send them a private email with the snopes link.

one of the guys here at work was getting alot of text messages (ie spam) and they stopped when he put his Cell number on the list. I wonder if that has anything to do with that.
