Cervical Anterior Fusion anyone else had it?

Was wondering how long I am going to be in pain since I had to have neck surgery last Friday for C4-C5 due to motorcycle wreck back last yr in March that ruptured my disc. Anyone else had and any suggestions on how long for recovery?????

Man, I hate to say it, but my wife had cervical fusion about 6 yrs ago and still has pain every day.
 
i have not had anything cervical. i had 3 discs replaced (l3,l4,l5) and when i went i refused the fusion method.
they replaced the disc with fat from my ass.
anyone i have ever known who went the fusion method has had problems ever since.
i had my surgery and was walking within 6 hours of the surgery and was back at work in 7 weeks. i still get pain every once in a while but a trip to the back cracker takes care of it.
 
I had a cervical fusion back in 97. I had it about 3 months after the injury, and it took me a while to be able to hold my head up again. A lot of therapy! As in 5 days a week for the longest time. I think I went back to work in like 4 months.

BTW Mine was C6-C7, also have a stainless plate in there too. Aches some esp when the weather changes drastic, but from what it was to what it is, I am better off.
 
My father in law had cervical fusion done about ten years ago, I can't remember which discs it was. To make a long story short, botched surgery, paralyzed for a few weeks, LONG rehab, and still to this day can't feel anything from the waist down.
 
I refused it on my lower back. They wanted to fuse 5 of my vertebra's.
 
Showed this to my wife. She says the intense pain after the surgery lasts about six weeks. Then after a year it will feel more normal, but just ache. With time it gets better she says.
 
So far actually have no pain down my arms now like I was having. Just resting alot lately and still can't pick up anything. But going back to dr tomorrow to see what next. So far most of the pain is going away from the surgery just hoping it all heals good. Can move neck 3/4 of original movement and only a week and 3 days since surgery. Just praying it all heals well.
