I swapped steering gear boxes in my 02 frontier this afternoon and when I gotit back together and started the truck I noticed the air bag light was flashing. It stayed on for the 25 min drive home. Anyone know why the lighht is on or how to make it turn off?

Not sure why it come on, but you can unhook the positive side of the battery and leave it unhooked for a little while. Hook it back up and check to see if it's on again. If that doesn't work you may want to get it checked and see if it's reading a code.

Sounds like you broke the clock spring in the steering wheel. It probably got turned a full turn one direction when disconnected and when you went the other way to the lock, you ran out of ribbon cable and broke it. The only way to know for sure is to find someone with a scan tool that will read airbag systems.

That is without a doubt what I did. I know I turned the wheel several turns when it wasnt hooked up to the box. How do I go about changing the clock spring, and is there any danger in the airbag going off without warning?

100% positive u broke the clock spring..only way to fix it is to get a used one from a junkyard..shouldnt be hard to get...you'll learn from your mistakes as i did it several years back when i changed a rack and pinion....

The airbag won't go off at all. The wiring to it is broke. Take steering wheel off and the clock spring is right there. (Could also be attached to the back of the steering wheel).
