I have a 1988 Cherokee and i'm trying to get the window crank off, HELP? How do i do this.

Thanks, JOhn:beer:

NO ONE DONE THIS BEFORE????

PLEASE

I'm not sure about this, but there are a few different ways those cranks attach. My CJ's have a screw that is just in the middle of it, plain to see. I have seen ones that are similar, but covered with a small plastic cover. The other type requires that you push the door panel in and pull a retaining clip from in between the door and the handle. I have Cherokee's here, but all of the ones here are automatic windows. I wish that I could be more help.

No screw from what i can see so i'll look for a retaining pin.

Thanks

i think there is a horseshoe clip holding it on. push the panel away from the crank. the clip will be very tight to the crank. use a screwdriveror needle nose pliers to push the clip out. the crank should slide right off.

I'll play with the handle tonight. Thanks all.

They make a tool that pushes the horseshoe clip off and makes it REALLY easy..

But i've always been able to get those clips off with a small L shaped pic or a screwdriver.

the 88 mj i parted out didn't have any kind of clips...just pulled right off the spline with a little force.

use a red rag between the door panel and the back of the handle. There is suspose to be a horseshoe clip there. The red rag will spring the clip and problably send it flying, but it will be off.
