I feel like an idiot posting this, as well i should... But, i need to do a front brake job on my cherokee, and the jack points from my haynes manual basically say to jack it up using the axle. now i haven't done much work on my cherokee, but i have read that the standard axles are pretty weak.

if i had the option, i would just lift the whole thing, but my friend that had one at his job quit so i am on my own again with my 20$ advanced auto 2 ton jack and jack stands.

Basically, do you guys think that the axle jack point is sturdy enough to hold up for say 45 min while i do the brake job?

alternative jack spots?

Thanks!

Put a jack under the axle, pick it up until you can get the tire off, and then set it on a jack stand.

It will hold up just fine. If this were a problem, the axle tubes would bend from the weight with the wheels on the ground.
