cherokee tcasw shifter problem? "help"

I have a 1989 cherokee with a rustys 4.5 lift it has the t-case 1in drop. The problem is when i put it in 4 low and start to move it will pup out of low back to neutral. it will stay in low as long as it is in foward moton but if i gas it and let off the slack lets it pop out. my question is, When you lift the cherokee and usethe t-case drop spacers do you have to modify the shifter linkage. it seems to not go all the way in low.and when i put it in low and go under and unhook the linkage i can move the tcase shifter back further. I would appriciate any light you could shed on this for me...

You need to make the adjustment on te linkage. there is a nut on it and it will slide on the link.

Thanks I did that but it turns out the rod that goes to the t-case was too short i had to cut and weld in a short piece to make it longer. Works great now. Thanks for your help though.
