Looking at a Chevrolet 4x4. Everything is fine except for the mileage. It's close to 300k. Trans is rebuilt (with paperwork). Engine is clean, quiet, good oil pressure, and appears to be meticulously maintained. Any issues that I should look for?

I think you just defined longevity. Any gas motor that makes it to 300k is OK in my book!

Expect some piston slap when cold, but warmed up it should quiet down.

My issue would be with the rest of the truck, frankly. a low mileage 5.3 pull can be had for under a grand, but one or 2 failures on the rest of the truck could cost more than that in a hurry.

SUCH AS? This is relative to my interests-

Rear end failure. Which is a pretty simple fix for $150 or less from a junk yard.

AC/electrical issues, I'm at 100k on my 05 silverado, and the only issues I've had so far have been AC related. Although my trans reacts a little slow when I shift into drive or reverse. It's done that as long as I've owned it. Bought it with 37k on the odometer. Trans fluid level is fine.

With 300k miles, I would start thinking about the electrical components such as window motors, etc. 300k isnt much for a yota, but a chevy......

j/k chevy gas burners ar the best out there.

A/C evap core, or other system like that.. front diff.. t-case failure from pump rub, etc.. etc..
