2006 chevy colorado, I5, 2WD. about 8000 miles on it.

last night no issues. "may have" gotten squirrelly around some turns (havin some fun), just in case that matters. nothing illegal. (flame if you must, you know you've done it).

anyhoo...

this morning i get in the truck to drive to work and power steering not really working. actually kinda felt like it came and went. mostly went. tonight on the way home, same.

havent had time to do anything really yet. before i left work tonight i looked under the hood with a penlight. looks like the fluid may be low, but shouldn't it still work ok if there is fluid? serpentine belt intact.

anywas, got a really small window of opportunity before work in the a.m., where should i start? my plan is to top off the fluid and see if i see any obvious leaks, which probably won't be easy if everything is still wet from the rain.

i've never owned a vehicle this new. have been driving it since May with no issues. anything weird about new cars and power steering???

damn this thread makes me sound like i have the mechanical knowledge of lindsey lohan.

At 8000 miles it is covered under warranty, leave it the fawk alone, let GM worry about it.

UNLESS of course when you got " Squirrelly" it went off road, check for any possible damage. if there is physical damage, you may be SOL.

Not familiar with the new stuff, there may actually be an issue with the steering rack or other part of the system.

Just be sure they can't blame you for anything.

X2 on what blackvoodoo said. Take that POS to the dealer and tell them to fix it!

As someone from Colorado, I'm offended that Chevy would name anything after my state. It should have been name a California, then the name would match the truck.:alien:

Only 2 recalls on the '06 Colorado, but I'm sure there are a few TSB's that are silent (is the GM way) Only fixing the issue under warranty unless there is a noticable trend to cause futher action.

Wouldn't be surprised if it isn't the steering rack itself, GM has had issue with several racks on other modles for several years. Most notably the pinion support bearing galling and locking up. Big recall for that on the Luminas and Malibu's
