i have a sb chevy that im putting in a 76 cj the problem that i have is the old jeep had a external voltage regulator for the alt the new chevy has a internal. The new alt has one post that is a hot off the starter then it has a prong with 2 wires that come off the back i need to know what to wire to them thanks

Hey Thad, the wire on the post goes directly to 12volts on the battery. on the plug the pin closest to the post goes to 12v switched power, and the other goes back to the battery. Hope this helps. Oh yeah I remember you from URE, you still got those lockouts for the dana 30?

the 2 wires your are talking about go to the alt. light on the dash, when power
flows through the wire to light an returns to alt. on other post it completes the
circuit an checks its self off by having like polarity so light goes out. If light
does not come on an go out at initial start up there is something wrong with alt. an thats the reason the light will stay on, its a self test. so when you install a 12v
light on dash an route these 2 wires to it in a complete circuit, put a 15ohms
risitor behind light just in case light burns out alt. will still charge battery..

these 2 wires have to be tied together for a GM alt.
to charge correctly. the one going straight to batt.
is the wire that goes through volt meter , an
should be at least a 6 or 8 guage wire. the other
2 have to be in series or through a dummy light,
with a 15 ohms risitor. If you dont wont to run
wiring rite now, make a pigtail at alt. 2 wire conn-
ection an put light rite at alt. or just tie 2 wires
together.
