Chevy Tcase question

My brother has chevy silverado with the 700r4/ np208 tranny combo. He thinks the tcase has slipped the chain or something.

Question is what gear driven tcases will bolt up to the 700r4 and what decent upgrades can be found for that tcase(heavier chain etc.)?

I'll probably rebuild it for him, unless we can found a gear driven case, any tips or tricks to the rebuild.

Thanks

you can bolt up a 205 from a Th350 using a 1in spacer. people on pirate sell them. you have to use a spacer because the 700r4 tailshaft is a little longer than the th350 tailshaft. a 241 with a SYE is also a very good option. 700r4/Np241 will give the best low range without a doubler.

ACTUALLY the 208 is a lower gear than the 241 and not nearly as weak as most believe (In terms of case strength) however a chain drive will never be as bullet proof as a gear driven of course.

I run a 208 behind a 700 pushing 38.5 with no problems. And my previou rig ran the 700/208 behind a 454 HO pushing 42 through tellico at leats a dozen times ith no issus...

Personal preferenc I suppose

I'm cratinly not going to argue with the "experts" but I swwear the last time I was in a 241 it was clsoer to a 2.23 hrmm I'll have to check

2.72 for a 241.

I must have been misunderstood. I was saying, after reading your links, these guys obviously deal with ratios more often than me therefor, I am not going to argue with the experts.
Unfortunantly, I was born human and still have this d*mn problem with making mistakes, I THOUGHT (obviously mistakenly) that the last time I had been inside a 241 (for a friend, never personally owned one!) it was a lower ratio, but it is obvious I am confused mistaken or just a plain idiot!
:flipoff2:
