I have a 1978 cj7 front axle is a dana 44 from a fsj. The rear will will be from an Isuzu rodeo with disc brakes, I currently have “manual” brakes. I would like to do a brake booster upgrade if anyone has experience with doing this swap your input will be appreciated.

Does the FSJ power booster fit your CJ firewall? If so I would go that route along with the MC from the FSJ as well. That way you know it will handle the flow for the front calipers. To manage the rear I’d add a manual prop valve and adjust it as necessary to tune in the rear.

I don’t have the fsj I just got the Dana 44 front but I get what you are saying I thought about the conversion kit that is offered online

What engine? An old school vacuum booster is a mighty tite fit with an I6... but have seen several that used an EB (early Bronco) or similar fabbed bracket to point the booster/MC outboard a few degrees

If you have power steering, why not go with "hydro-boost" (driven by the PS pump/lines)?

I would look at a booster from a 99 xj and a 84-86 e350 master cyl. Should have plenty of flow and the booster is smaller in diameter.

Well now I have an issue with current brakes i have replaced the master cylinder new rotor pads and shoes for the rear, now when off-road on an incline then brake pedal goes to the floor and I have to pump it to build pressure. Any thoughts/information will be appreciated.

Seems like the last 5 guys that did any brake work, came out like this. WTH is Up? Dow we need a separate listing, just for Brakes? List all the Do's & Dont's, with a Trouble Shooter section?

Maybe, do you remember the fix or just the last 5 threads?

Make sure the bleeders are at the top of the calipers and the level in your master cyl. is at the fill mark. Sounds like the fluid it to one side and it's sucked air?

No, not by name, but has been over probably a period of less than 2 years. I believe most were a "Bleed" problem.

I had FSJ waggy dana 44's on my last cj7 and used a 90's s10 dual diaphram booster with a shortened push rod and a 90's wagoneer master cylinder with the cj7 booster bracket. Worked great! Stock cj7 proportioning valve and would stop 37" tires on steel heavy beadlocks no problems! The rear dana 44 had a disk brake conversion using s10 front calipers and 88 chevy stepside rotors with A&A weld on brackets.:D
