I'm working on a buddys CJ7, it's an 83 model with a thousand wires, vaccum switchs, smog crap,etc... It needs a new carb and he'd like to do away with the all that suff and just have a basic 2 barrel with manual choke if possible. What would you guys suggest? I'd like for it not to require several hours of linkage mods if possible. This is strickly a pavement pounder so it doesn't need to be able to run upside down or anything. Thanks

Personally I really like my Weber. Just helped a friend install one on her 82 CJ7 and the only thing we had trouble with was putting too much oil on the filter at first. Once we cleaned that off we were able to make the adjustments and it's running great.

The kit came with all the linkages, and it was straightforward installing it and setting the linkage.

You need a MC 2100 with a 1.08 venturi if he's running a 6cyl. Cheap and easy jeep carb...

x3 on the 2100. Seen one on a 304 run while the Jeep was on it's side...just gotta feather the throtle and not let it die...Poor mans fuel injection.

Do the "nutter bypass" while you are in there. Eliminate all kinds of the electrical and vacuume crap.

Please dear god don't go to the parts store and get a new/reman MC2100. go to teh junkyard, get one for $20-$30 and then go to the parts store and get a $30 rebuild kit. you'll be $140 ahead at that point. these carbs were used on damn near every carburated Ford, just have to find the 1.08 which will be on the smaller V8's and 6's

Definitely MC2100

Find one that has a 1.08 cast on the main body
Get some #46 Jets
The right powervalve.
and you're good to go.
