I twisted my front windsheild frame really bad the other week, and need new glass so i can get an inspection. I have a straight frame without any glass in it, anyone know of the cheapest place to get a piece of glass? Or an alternative?

Im thinking it might be cheapest to find a frame with good glass intact.

The cheapest way out is to take your frame to the local glass shop and have them put saftey glass in it, works great, just no dot sticker. Or I have dot glass for around 90$.

What about a piece of Lexan? If its non-DOT approved material, i doubt it would matter if it were lexan vs. safety glass

Lexan is probably gonna be more than glass...

thanks for eveyones replies... ill check out the glass shop for safety glass

Lexan is very prone to scratching ive found out.

zymol wax will take the scratches out of Lexan. (Most of 'em anyway.)

speed glass works better than lexan, but its triple the price

I didn't think you needed a windshield for inspection in NC???

Since I asked this before and never got an answer, can you cut speedglass like lexan? I used a roto-zip on my windshields. And no you don't need a windshield for a NCSI. Just have to have wipers that do not streak. Go figure.

Not really, they can put a motorcycle sticker somewhere that is concidered a non removable part of the vehicle. An exo cage would work great.

There was a guy with a low budget buggy at Uwharrie several years ago, built off a stock K5 frame and drivetrain. He had no windshield, but had a small piece of plexiglass a little bigger than the size of an inspection sticker where the sticker was placed. It was in the lower left corner where an inspection sticker would normally be on a vehicle.
