Doing a full width swap on my CJ7. Trying to figure out what amount of lift (if any) springs to run up front.......need to be able to fit 40s comfortably...........

-set up for 2.5" wide YJ springs OVER the axles

-also has 1" body lift

-Chevy V8 and winch as well

Thanks in advance for any help or advise. Trying to do this one time if possible lol.

On my old rig I ran 42"s with stock YJ springs, SOA, but I did have trimmed and flat front fenders. I am running 36"s right now on a CJ7 with stock SOA YJ springs and some trimming. I guess it depends on whether you are willing to trim the fenders or not. Depends too on how you will use the rig, whether you will wheel it hard at Harlan with lots of flexing or just drive it to church :driver:

I have run 44's and now 43's on mine. 3 1/2 inch BDS springs, would rub if not for bump stops. With bump stops, I would think stock or maybe 2" springs would serve you well.

Thanks for the input guys.......it's not gonna be a hardcore trail machine, I've had it since I was 15 years old (I'm 31) my first ride actually so although I want to build it so it's ready for anything I need it for I'm not gonna go try to roll it either so if 40s are a little snug that will be fine. Lookin' like I want to try some stock springs if I can find some in decent shape for cheap and if that's not enough then fork out some money for some good 1.5-2" springs.

Any more info is appreciated.

I ran 38s on stock YJ springs with a V8, no body lift. Before I went flat fender, it would rub the flares at full stuff.

nice. I just picked up some used Superlift 1.5" fronts so we'll see where that gets me. I'm so damn ready to get this thing back on the road!
