I'm getting everything ready to swap a Chevy dana 44 and a 14 bolt into the CJ. I just want to make sure I have everything else taken care of before it comes down to the actual axle swap. The potential problems I see are:
1. Fuel tank. I'm assuming that the 14 bolt will be hell on the stock tank. I'm thinking of running a fuel cell behind the back seat. Will there be any problems running the stock mechanical fuel pump (AMC 360)? Also, any legal issues with a cell on the road?
2. Steering. I'm using the PSC full width kit. The 44 has flat top knuckles, and I'll be running hi-steer. I'll be running an AGR super box. Since the PSC kit moves the axle forward an inch, will that cause problems with the stock mounting location?
3.Brakes. I will be switching to 4 wheel discs. Is the Corvette master cylinder the best option?
4. Anything else I forgot that I can do before the actual swap? I know driveshafts and such wil be an issue, but I'll have to get the axles in first before I can get a measurement for that.
