While setting up my sami with CJ7 leaf springs, how far should I expect the springs to extend past the the front of the the frame. It looks like in order to position the axle in the right spot they'll have to stick out a couple inches or so. Also, how much lift should I get by using the CJ7 springs?

Just to use the rears Sami springs upfront you have to relocate the rear bolts w/ plates, or run Missing link type shackles up-front. And the rears are about 6" shorter than the CJs. You can relocate the rear bolts and run MLs at the same time and possibly get them to fit. I think you'll be looking about 4" of spring sticking out in front w/ the stock frame hangers. It's been a while since I tried, but I seem to remember the springs being past the bumper.
You could just fab up a new front bumper from 2x4 steel tubing and relocate the front shackle hangers to it.
When I tried to go CJs upfront....way to long IMHO. I went w/ rears up front and CJs in rear. When I get around to building a front bumper...then I'll go CJs upfront.
