I recently replaced my power steering pump on my 84 CJ7. I took digital photos, but the computer dumped them. When I reinstalled the pump it isn't in the same orientation. Originally the fill tube was pointed up. Now it points to the side under the air intake hose. Can someone post some photos of their pump installed in the proper position?
Thanks,
Ben

This is not a factory install, just what I cobled together for my power steering upgrade. My pump is from a 4-banger, so maybe that's why the filler neck points outboard instead of up.

Mine points outboard as well. Just a little more than yours. Now I can't get enough fluid in for it to operate properly.

Thanks for the photo!

Mine mounts just like RenegadeT's does. I have not had a problem filling it at all. Make sure that you have the correct belt on it. You may need to go to a shorter belt.

IIRC, I just went to the Zone and asked for a belt to fit an 80-something CJ-7 with PS and no air pump, and it fit perfectly. That tells me they had the same pulley diameter and center location for 4 and 6 cylinder, the pump is just clocked differently, for whatever reason.

To get more fluid in there, I've seen people hose clamp a short section of radiator hose on the filler neck. I can't remeber how the cap would 'seal' like this, or how you'd know if you were overful.

I'm going to try a shorter belt first. I just know that the filler neck used to be almost straight up and now it is in a different position. It looks to be mounted correctly. Weird.
