new to jeeps. had some buddies tell me about throwin the axle under the springs to gain some lift. Do i just need longer shocks or what?

its not quite that easy. You weld new perches on top of your axles (be sure the adjust the rear pinion angle), take apart the leaf springs and flip the center pin (most likely destory old one, install new one), get new U-bolts, re-engineer the steering, inspect driveshaft lengths. I know I'm forgetting a lot, oh... and longer shocks
