Clocking a D300- without a ring

Could you not just retap a new pattern into the D300 case and forgo the clocking ring idea? Without going inside of it to check out the flange, it looks feasible. Allows for a no-buck upgrade if you can tap a hole straight. Just curious.

FWIW, I just re-drilled the bolt pattern on the adaptor on the back of the transmission...

^^ i did the same on the 350-300 adapter, was able to clock the 300 completely flat

as for re-drilling/tapping the 300, i'm not much help other than "try it and let us know"

i second the redrilling the tranny instead of drilling and tapping the xcase. thats just ALOT of unedded work when you could work and extra couple hours at work and get a clocking ring

yep, but front isn't short enough to make a difference...

the shifter MAY need to be modified, a little...
