I'm putting a new clutch in the TJ tommorow night. And we are leaving for a 2 day trail ride on Thur. night. What I'm wondering is how bad is this going to be on a brand new clutch, since it won't have a proper break in. Its a Zoom clutch if that makes a difference...

If installed right, I see no reason for worry.
I would do it all if you have not thought about it. Release bearing( if it has one)
Clutch, pressure plate, and have flywheel resurfaced.

If you can't find a place to resurface it let me know, I am just down the road in Drexel where we do re-surface flywheels

I would drive it around "normally" as long as you can in 2 days Jason. You can glaze a clutch, or thats what teh Centerforce tech told me.

Yeah I just got the Zoom kit that has all that stuff in it. Putting a new flywheel in, a buddy was able to use his discount and get me one for like 50 bucks, so I figured I would just throw a new one in rather than having to mess with getting the old one resurfaced..

CLEAN the oil off the new flywheel, even if you don't think it's there, CLEAN both the flywheel and pressure plate friction surface with a good quallity brake cleaner, then do not touch the surfaces with rags, or your grubby fingers ( it's a Jeep, they'll be greasy) and DO NOT touch the friction material on the clutch disc,.

Yes it really does make a differance !!

I cleaned the hell out of my new clutch and cut flywheel when I re-did my SBC/SM465.. went out and drove around a little bit, and then went straight on a trail ride, had NO problems. I think the cleaning and adjusting helped a ton..
