Ok, I need some information on clutch styles and designs etc.
I'm planning to mix/match some clutch parts/pieces and need to make sure I'm accounting for everything..
Some background. I'm running a 2.2 cavalier engine. I picked up an s10 flywheel off craigslist. It's the same GM part# as what the cavi. calls for so were good there. Cavaliers only came with 8-1/2" disk while s10s had 9-1/8" disks. My problem being the spline count on some the s10 stuff is different... ok np...
So I wanted to make sure that I'm not over looking anything with swapping disks around. I've spent 2hrs plowing through parts books and just can't find any information in reguard to the clutch disk stuff..
Based on pictures, various disks have different numbers of springs but other wise look the same.
Are there differences in hub/spline depth ?
Are the difference in clover plates? I have a new clover plate that came with the flywheel, id like to use it if possible.
Are they usually functionally the same?
Also this same flywheel was used on larger v6 engines that also came with a larger disk with the spline count I need.
Anyone have any disk swapping knowledge ?
