a friend of mine a pepsi vendor gave me a co2 tank, i guess its one they use on soda fountains, pretty big tank, little bigger than a scuba tank, or close to it. is this something i can use for OBA, and if so, what do i need to make this work, and where can i get it. thanks for the info.

you just need a co2 regulator. Check out ebay, I'd get an adj. one so you could run air tools if you wanted

A good regulator is key... Im running a powertank but I think their regulators are around $150.00 or so. After an extended use period you will see why the regulator is so important... That thing gets really cold.

hydro test stamp

check the hydro test date stamped on the side. Its good for 5 years usually. I think some places won't fill it if its pass test date.

When you go to get the tank filled ask if they can build you a regulator. At Linde Gas in Colfax they can build you a regulator for a lot less than all of the 4x4 related ones. I think they quoted me $60 for an adjustable one, maybe even less.

HYDRO TEST ON CO2 TANK IS 5 YEARS. SOME WELDING SUPPLIES MAY EXCHANGE YOUR MT FOR A FULL. SO THEN YOU WOULDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HYDRO TEST IN THE FUTURE. MOST WELDING SUPPLIES (MINE INCLUDED) DON'T FILL ON SITE AS THE FILL PLANTS ARE AT SEPERATE LOCATIONS. IF YOU WANTED TO KEEP YOUR TANK AND HAVE IT FILLED I WOULD LOOK FOR A FIRE EXTINGUISHER SERVICE PLACE. I NORMALLY KNOW WHEN I'M GOING RIDING SO I JUST CALL A WEEK OR SO IN ADVANCE TO MAKE SURE I GET AN ALUMINUM TANK WITH HANDLE BACK.
FOR CO2 REGULATORS IF YOU HAVE A FLOW OF 100 SCFH YOU NEED MIN DELIVERY OF 80 PSIG TO HELP PREVENT FREEZE UP. A MEDIUM DUTY CO2 REG CAN BE HAD FROM YOUR LOCAL WELDING SUPPLY 0-100 PSI DEL. FOR AROUND $75-80. I PERSONALLY USE A HIGH FLOW N2 REG WITH AN ADAPTOR SO I CAN USE NITROGEN AT THE RACE TRACK AND HAVE ONLY ONE REG. I REMOVED THE OUTLET FITTING AS IT WILL BE A THREADED 5/8-18RH FITTING AND REPLACED WITH A QUICK CONNECT FOR A STANDARD AIR LINE. REG THREADS FOR INLET AND OUTLET SHOULD BE 1/4" NPT.
CO2 IS LIQUID IN THE CYLINDER SO TO USE IT IT WILL HAVE TO BE UPRIGHT
TO PULL VAPOR. KEEP THAT IN MIND FOR MOUNTING ON YOUR RIG. I USE 4B'S CYLINDER BRACKETS PN TH-108 AROUND $30 EA.

CO2

I guess thats why I pay anywhere from $20 to $28 for #20 because they fill while I wait.
