Just got back from the race!
This was my first NASCAR race and it was an experience of a life time!
So I get a phone call at 10:00pm last night and my buddy says "hey, you want to be Grand Marshal for the Coca Cola 600 tomorrow?" I had no idea what that meant, but it sounded fun so I said yes. Soooooo.... today I was a Grand Marshal (along with 3 others) for the 600 and actually led the cars around the track for the green flag! I stood beside the Pole car (Ryan Newman) when they said start your engines, then jumped in a 4 Runner, pulled out onto the track with the entire field following me, and led them 2 laps around the track at ~90mph before peeling off into Pit Lane as they charged by for the green flag.
Our passes got us in the pit area and I spent most of the time hanging out in Kurt Busch's spot, only to see him win it all a few hours later! I was extremely fortunate as this was an experience I will never forget. I will be in debt to my buddy for a looong time!
A couple of camera phone pics from the day-
"Gentleman, start your engines" (my heart skipped a beat here):
Leading the field around the track around 90mph!:
Hanging out by Kurt's pit:
Couple of shots from the Toyota suite:
Thought I would share!
