The rubber piece of the bump stop came off this past weekend. I didn't even notice it until I got all the mud off. How do I get this thing back in there without compressing the spring? Will it even go back in or do I need to replace it? Will get pics tomorrow if needed.

Mod, please move this to axles/suspension/tires. Just realized it really belongs there.

It just pushes in. Clean it good, add a little grease and use a pry bar to pop it in

sounds like you'll need a new bumpstop, I doubt the entire thing fell out. You'll probably end up removing the coil to get the rest of the rubber out, but you could try it with the coil in there still first. The new one slides in, a little grease will help greatly.

It does look like it just snaps back in. Didn't think about the pry bar. I'll give it a whirl tomorrow if it isn't pouring. Thanks guys!

The rubber is about 5 to 6 inches long and reaches half way down the coil spring. I doubt it is stock, but then I have no clue what stock bumps look like.

dude...wtf limits your uptravel, shocks, fender rubbing, or coil binding?

If he has 5.5" coils and stock bump stops they will never hit.....thats one of those real world vs. web wheelin cases:flipoff2: Just messing with you... Sounds like they are extended bumps though.

Put some grease on them and use a pry bar like mentioned before....It will definately go in without dropping the coil.

thanks for making my point, I was wondering what would hit :flipoff2:

stock bumpstops are about 4" long overall, about 2" sticks out of the cup. these definitly sound like aftermarket extended bumpstops. They're such a PITA to get in , I don't see how one could fall out intact, but maybe that is what happened. Maybe they were not completely pushed in...I have done that and was able to correctly install with the coil in place.

Probably coil bind. Stock bumps here and they never get touched, I'm pretty easy on it though.

Bronco just got 4" travel airbumps to go with the coilovers, but I care about it a little more. :)

Also, it might make things easier if you jack up the jeep by the front bumper to open the coils up a bit.
