ok this is what I have. stretched CJ-7 to 110" triangle linked rear on factory front xj springs. my problem is under compression the compacting spring tends to fold over.
Is this a normal problem related to coils? are bump stops the only answer? coilovers will solve the problem but I will take that step only if I have too or if I score on a lotto tick. looking for some creative ideas.
here is one Idea I had, since the suspension is located via trackbar side to side motion is held in check. I might be able to use the same style hiem joint mount as a coil over on the bottom. The bottom spring mount will be able to compensate for the angle via the pivot point. what do you guys think. Is this thing going to work or will it leave me with a completely useless spring lanching, frame landing on axle contraption.

i had the same problem and could find nothing to fix it the only time mine did it was on hard compression and i didn't see a way around it because you have the spring bottom mounted to the axle which at no flex is level well then you are taking that level mounting surface and puttting it at an angle the harder you compress it, while the body is not necessrily staying on the same plane so you have to get some spring contortion just because of the angles i ran mine for awhile and then just last week switched over to fox 2.0 air shocks

mine did the same thing but i didnt notice any negetive side effects from it .. or u could go air shocks they are way cheaper than coilovers

If you have pivots, you really need to have something to keep it in line (such as a male and female piece of tube that slide in and out, but keep the top and bottom coil mounts perpendicular. This would essentially be a coil over without the damper/shock. However, you would need to be careful with the lengths, so that the tubes didn't bottom out or separate from each other.

i have seen your idea used b4 and it would probally work ... but i dont think it is necessary .. the only difference is that they used pivots on the leaf spring perch

spring perch

how is your spring perch shaped? I had trouble since my TJ springs are flat on top and angled on the bottom. Once I made a bottom mount that supported them equal across the bottom, they quit that weird deflection.
