Coilover advice

I have coilovers on the front of my TJ. They feel a little stiff so I'm thinking about running a lighter spring on top. Does anyone have experience with coilover rates on a TJ? This is a trail rig that sees very little road use (maybe drive to work a couple times a month if the weather is nice). The coilovers themselves are 12" travel 2.0 diameter. Im thinking of running a 100 over 200 but worried that may be a little too soft. I currently have 175 over 200 which was recommended by the salesman.

The slider stop is about 2" above the slider, I have 5" of up travel. I just guessed at the position of that. This is my first set of coilovers so I really dont have anything to compare to, just experimenting with different setups.

Do you know how much your springs are preloaded?
Are the springs coming upseated at full droop?
What are the lengths of the upper and lower springs?
What kind of coilovers are they?
Remember the springs hold the vehicle and the valving controls it, meaing you can change springs all day long and while you make make it better you won't fix it or get it as good as it could be. It's very possible that you're compession is too stiff which is doubtful or the rebound is way to slow causing a rough ride.

he will fix you up

Alex has my Jeep handling good on and offroad! I love the feel it has

I'm running 200/300 on the front of my daily driven/race rig TJ. It is not stiff at all, I'm a little surprised you are not happy with yours.

Im not sure "not happy" is the correct term, just think it may could be better. Again, I dont have anything to compare it to since this is my first set of coilovers. Part of the reason Im thinking they are too stiff is that I have no swaybars on it at all and it drives and wheels with very little bodyroll, but maybe I'm making connections there that dont exist. They are profender 12" travel 2.0 coilovers. At full droop the springs would unseat if not for the tender springs on top. I have no idea what the preload is or even how to measure that. If I remember correctly, they are charged to 175 psi, again another guess just for a starting point.

If they come unseated you dont have any spring preload.
With that being said you possibly could drop to a lower spring but your setup isnt designed to do that with a tender. Its made to run a heavier spring to control body roll but still keep a "low" stance or keep the springs from becoming unseated at full droop. 175psi is fine, nothing wrong there.
I would call Ryan at Profender and ask him what valving is in it or how many bleed holes the pistons generally come with. I do have Profender valving here and if you're interested in making it better I can go through them and make some changes.

Are you near Charlotte or ever pass through? You could ride around in mine and see if there is a difference.
