Im about to have twins, and im bringing the fiance along with me so we will be buying a house and hopefuly staying a long time. I would like to stay rural and buy a little land along with the house and just really wanted to know what area's i should look at first.

thanks guys!

hell ya...NC was...at one time one of the premier 4wheeling places in the country. With Tellico located mostly within our borders. Unfortunatly, we are in a legal fight to get tellico back from the gov't.

Bring the crawler. big crawling scene here. We still have Uwharrie nat'l forest and large number of private parks within driving distance.

Welcome to the board. we just had one of ours relocate to maryland... and took his 4runner with him, lol. looks like we're getting a fair trade.

Lots of people not wanting to live in Fayetteville now. We are up the road in Sanford, lots of folks commute from around here to F'ville -- 4 lane divided highway all the way down.

Once a lot of military guys have family/kids, they are moving to more outlying areas. One of the realtors has told me that 40% of the apartments in Sanford now are rented to military families. We are seeing a lot of growth in town, especially along 87 (hwy to F'ville) South of town. Part of it attributed to BRAC (Base Realignment and Closing) moves.

Also lots move into Moore County....aberdeen/southern pines area. If you are working on-base, you can get in the back gate. If you are working in town, not a good idea, you'd have to go around.

Well, figured you'd show up here :flipoff2:

Now, who could that be?

Aberdeen wouldnt be that bad you could shoot right over on 211. Also Raeford is on the outskirts and the ride into Bragg wouldnt be that bad not much there though.. And like stated above Sanford is nice.

Still plenty of land (rural) between Vass and So Pines, unfortunely horse country is taking over. Pretty nice to be this close to Raleigh, Charlotte an Fayetnam and still own a little piece of land.

land would be nice, i want to build a shop where ever i choose. Sadly half of it will be occupied with cars :| Im hopeful i hear about something soon so i can get started. im running out of time....these twins are impatient and want out of the oven :huggy:

why is that sad?

Just be sure It's a big garage :driver:

For what'll get for your place in MD, you shoudl be able to buy LOTS of land/garage.

I work near Fayetteville. Sanfords great, I'm close to Raleigh, close to Fayettenam, close to Greensboro. Not a bad location. Except for our restaurant choices.

There is some great eating around here. Unless you think chains like Chili's, etc are good eating.

We have an Applebees in Sanford, but it's the nastiest restaurant I have ever been in. Once, three of us at a table, each of us had to request new silverware at least three times each to finally get a clean fork...nasty dried on gunk. I think they were running behind, and just running silverware thru the sanitizer/steamer, and not the dishwasher part, baking the stuff on. We left, haven't gone back.

Carthage, vass, Raeford, Rockfish, Lilington is a drive but notbad, Hope mills, I live on the outside edge of fayetteville (almos hope mills and it is like 10-12 miles to Bragg and takes 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. We are currentl looking to move out of town. We have four kids (twin 25 month old girls) and is running ot of room. Stay out of Fayetteville if possable the laws are not kind to doning your own maintenance. I usedto be in the county but was annexed into the ciy a few years ago.

Do you know what your having yet boys, girls, or combo? Let me know if you need anyting. Welcome to the board and the area. If you need a realtor let me know, I can get you in touch with mine. He is good and a stand up guy. He also does rentals. I suggest renting fo the first year to get an idea of th area before you buy and commit. Just a thought.
