Computer question

Noticed lately that the cooling fan on my desktop kicks on A LOTlately. Everything works fine and seems normal, but I guess something is building up more heat than it should. Just wondering what would cause this. It will do it pretty much no matter what is going on with the CPU. I've heard it kick on when it was just sitting with the screen saver going. It's around 2 years old with a Pentium 4 processor if that helps any. Thanks.

I've never heard of a desktop where the fan doesn't run constantly. Are you sure it's supposed to kick on and off?

pop the side off of it and get a can of air and spray out the dust

I guess there is a fan running all the time, but it has started to kick into high a bunch now.
