The Army Navy store near my house in Charlotte has an M-109 shop truck for sale that has enough room for a work bench, lots of spare parts, and has electrical outlets. They are only asking 6,400 and if I had the money I would rock the :poop: out of it. This thing would make a great tow, parts carrier, or sleeper for those long nights at the trail. Here is a link of what it looks like, I don't have pics of the one here. I thought I would share in the coolness of this thing.

yeah, someone just sold one of those on this forum. He was from wilmington.

A few things I would want to do different, but over all, it's a very clean job. I am curious as to why the single tires. I see they are some larger wonder what that will allow the cruising speed to be. I have looked at some of these trucks and always wondered, what a realistic speed going down interstate would be pulling my Jeep. If I knew I could get a decent speed out of it I would consider one myself. I am always envious of someone with the time/money and know how to put something like this together. I am thinking a roof top AC unit would be good for both the cab and the living area.

The duece's were always LOUD to drive, but were also always pretty slow, even just pulling their own weight around.

I'm surprised more of the 5-ton trucks haven't been sold with the move to the forward control trucks now.

Are the duece's cool? Sure. My bright red '70 school bus with the back chopped and dovetailed was cool too, but 50mph sucks, no matter how cool it may seem.

There is normally a screw or something on the carb that is the .gov put there for a rev limiter. Remove it, and you can run interstate speeds.

If you insulated the firewall, sides, floor and top, and moved the stack toward the back, I would think that would help with the noise. A taller tire would net you a few MPH I would think, add that to maybe some tuning on the military settings for the engine. What do you think a reasonable speed for the flats and hills would be?

Mine runs dead on 56 mph wide open, either gon'na run the exhaust back of the cab or taller and straight up to deaden the noise. (If I keep it, this was my deckover trailer money I bought it with)

I'd like to put some 46" or 52" tires on it instead of the 40's it has now, that'd would get it maybe to 65ish mph.

Not really possible, and best you could ever possibly achieve would be like 58-59, and that would be past red line, the gov limits it from going over redline. Only way to get interstate speeds with out a regear, or drivetrain change would be to get bigger tires. 11x20's can get you to about 60-65, and 395's, which are 46.7" tall can get you up to around 78 mph by redline. I just made a 450 mile road trip in mine, hit 57 once or twice with a back wind going down hill. And mine doesn't have that giant box on the back, which from personal experience really hurts wind resistance, and terrible visibility.

I am a NOOB when it comes to the deuces. Does the thing still run 55mph with a load and a trailer?

Bobbed Deuce.

I'm going by what a friend told me about the deuce and getting them up to interstate speed.

But that Bobbed Deuce is sweet.
