same way your electric hot water heater works..
like the engine warmer for ezer winter starts i guess
arnt there some that pump water around to warm the hole engine?
Not necessary, as I had to explain to an engineer, Thursday,
A cooling system is a full system with the only air at the top of the radiator. If you heat the coolant at the block heater, JWH (jacket water Heater), chop heater (or whatever else you wanna call them) not only does that water heat up, but in turn the water (AF) touching it etc etc. Then as each of these are heating they in turn heat the metal they touch.
Cummins Power Gen uses a static WJH while one of our competitors uses a Pump system. It took me 45 minutes to explain to Einstein that if you constantly pump the fluid through the system, you are continually increasing the amount of fluid that is exposed to the air pocket at the top of the radiator, which is where the easiest path of heat loss is. Sooooo, it is actually more effective if the fluid isnt pumped but left static.
